ON FOOT FROM ATOCHA TRAIN STATION TO HOTEL

Hotel Plaza Mayor is located in the very city centre and can be easily reached from Atocha train station. If you do not carry too much luggage and the weather is nice you might want to enjoy a 20 min. walk from Atocha train station to our hotel.

Just go past the main exit gate of Atocha strain station and get to the plaza of Emperor Carlos V and continue up Atocha st. While exiting Atocha you cannot miss the amazing building of Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum. Remember where it is because it is a must see in Madrid

BY TAXI FROM ATOCHA TRAIN STATION TO HOTEL

The taxi route is pretty much the same as on foot but obviously it takes much less time. From Atocha Train Station to the hotel it would probably take you around 4 min. To catch a taxi just look around for the white cars with a red stripe on either station front door.

To know whether the taxi is occupied just look at the roof and if the green light is on just stop it and hoop on. Fares vary depending on the time of the day, but with “Fare 1″ from Atocha Train Station to our Hotel you should not pay more than 6 Euros. Please note that you might be charged with a supplementary fee if you take a taxi directly at Atocha Train Station, so you might want to save about 2,5 euros by going a little further outside the station.

BY METRO FROM ATOCHA TRAIN STATION TO HOTEL

There is nothing easier than getting from Atocha Train Station to Hotel Plaza Mayor, it’s just 4 stops, no need to change lines, sometimes it is a faster way to get to the hotel than by taxi, so you want to consider this option especially during rush hours. The route from platforms to metro is clearly indicated and there is only line number 1 stopping at Atocha Renfe, so you should not have any problem finding it.

Now take the metro that goes to “Pinar de Chamartin” and get off at SOL. It is only 4 stations and it should not take you more than 10 min door to door from Atocha train station to our hotel. A single ticket is 1.5 euro (luggage included) but if you plan to travel by metro frequently while in Madrid, consider buying 10 ride pass for 12.20 Euro. It is exchangeable so you if you travel with a partner, just buy one and you will get 5 rides each. When taking a metro from Atocha train station to hotel please take a special care of your personal belongings. Like every big city Madrid has its bad sides and pick-pocketing can be a case, especially in Metro. So please make sure you get from the Atocha train station to the hotel safe.
